A region with its own story
CEE is a region with specific challenges: post-socialist urban fabric, large housing estates, an energy transition under tight constraints and low institutional trust.
When trust in institutions starts low, it's hard to get residents to invest time, money or good faith in anything shared, from a courtyard to a rooftop solar panel.
But the region is also full of initiatives that don't get much airtime outside their own countries.
We're aiming to change that.
Placemaking CEE is the space to showcase these initiatives, learn from others and take home best practices that could work in our countries as well.
Regional support for
national issues
Placemaking CEE was created to offer practitioners and organizations across the region a space to work on shared challenges together and learn from each other.
The hope is that national networks form as a direct result of people getting involved.
The programme is co-created and co-owned: members shape what they want to develop.
Who's in the network
A starting core of eight countries.
Practitioners and organizations from the Baltics and the Western Balkans, as well as any other actors who are interested in the CEE region, are welcome to join us.
Four ways to work together
Each community of practice sets its own pace and aims for at least two outputs a year: articles, policy papers or toolkits.

A monthly CEE-wide call, open to the whole network
